1 ½ years ago Patrick Cheung, a Hong Kong business man, was looking for an interesting and eye-opening social idea which he, as a new social entrepreneur, could bring to Hong Kong. He very quickly met Andreas Heinecke, CEO of Dialogue Social Enterprise and the founder of Dialogue in the Dark (DiD). And already in January 2009 Patrick realized the first DiD business workshops in Hong Kong. In June 2009 he and Andreas signed an agreement to bring the DiD exhibition to Hong Kong, too.
On January 16, 2010 Daniela Dimitrova, Antonio Organtini and I went to Hong Kong to consult and train the local team for two weeks. Over 30 visually impaired people came to join the selection for the training and 22 were selected to join the 10 days of intense training with our master guides, Dani and Antonio.
The training of the visually impaired and sighted staff was a lot of work for everybody but we made it. Due to an enthusiastic, open and trustful atmosphere the preparation of the team, as well as the construction and opening of the exhibition was a lot of fun and a great success.
Congrats to the DiD HK team! Knowing them, I’m sure it will continue to be a great experience for visitors, guides and all people involved!
